(London, 24 October 2019) BIMA, the home of Britain’s digital community, has announced new chairs for three of its councils today. BIMA’s councils lead new thinking and champion the British digital sector on the world stage. Additional new Council chairs will be announced in early 2020.

Industry influencers

“Our councils are the conduit through which BIMA serves the UK’s digital community,” BIMA co-president Tarek Nseir said, “so it’s vitally important that each council is led by someone who carries industry credibility and the respect of their peers. Lindsay, Al and Nick each fit that description, and are exemplars for the sort of council chairs we appoint.

Alastair Cole, Partner and Director of Creative Technology at ENGINE will co-chair the Tech Council with Lindsay Herbert, IBM Inventor and Innovation Leader for IBM iX in the UK and Ireland.

Cole says, “We’re on a mission to assemble and invigorate the UK’s current and future tech leaders. Our vision for the next 12 months is to create a unique and highly tailored offering for this diverse and dynamic community – a safe space where we can tell inspirational stories and share the hard truths of delivering complex technology projects.”

Herbert says, “In 2020 we’ll be bringing together the UK’s technical communities in a brand-new way, and it’s a real privilege to be Tech Council co-chair at this exciting time. We’ll be taking aim at the pains of working on the frontlines of constantly evolving tech, while putting inclusivity at the core of everything we do.”

Nick Rosa, Global Head of Immersive Learning & Extended Reality Practice Lead Europe at Accenture, will lead the Immersive Council. Rosa says, “I’m humbled and honoured about my new role as chair of the Immersive Council at BIMA; it’s a delicate phase for the immersive market as the technology is exiting its infancy and prepping for a mass-market prime time. At this moment it’s essential that organisations like BIMA will sustain businesses doing immersive across the UK helping them to understand how to move from tactical projects to strategic programmes, from PoCs to scale; and support the production of XR projects sharing best practices and lessons learned.”

BIMA’s councils lead new thinking, and champion the British digital sector on the world stage. Since their inception in 2017, the councils have helped develop BIMA’s geographic reach and inclusivity while sharpening its focus in key areas including Ai, immersive technology, blockchain, creativity, data, young talent and diversity.
