BIMA Breakfast Briefing | Breaking into Asian Markets
Find out how to make your work, work hard in Asian markets, how to perfect your craft for different cultures and how the Asian markets are interacting with brands and agencies alike.
With nearly half of the world’s internet population based in Asia Pacific and almost 1.1 billion active social media users in this region, agencies are zeroing in on these fast growing economies to take their business to the next step.
Join us and a panel of experts at our next Breakfast Briefing to find out what these emerging markets means for the industry, hear success stories, lessons learned and tips for anyone looking to learn more about these markets.
Moderator:
Sam Michel, Founder at Chinwag | Sam started Chinwag in 1996 to support the nascent digital marketing industry. It’s grown alongside the industry, as have I, hopefully, with roles ranging from, arguably, the UK’s first paid webmaster at Time Out magazine, part of the founding management team of the UK’s first web agency, Webmedia and the startup team at digital off-shot of TV firm, Carlton (now part of ITV)
Speakers:
Gerry McCusker, CEO at Dog | In his role as Chief Executive of Dog since 2001, Gerry has driven the expansion of the agency’s global presence from Glasgow to include offices in London, Singapore and Jakarta. A digital industry native, Gerry was instrumental in setting up two successful Internet businesses prior to joining Dog and continues to apply his entrepreneurial flair and strategic vision to the business.
Gerry will share his experiences of opening up two offices in Asia Pacific, why he did it and how he went about making it a reality.
Domenica Di Lieto, Managing Director at Emerging Communications UK | Domenica is the founder and MD of London-based Chinese digital agency, Emerging Communications. She specialises in targeting affluent Chinese customer segments across Europe and has extensive experience of managing Chinese staff and suppliers at all levels.
Domenica’s session will walk you through the cultural “dos and don’ts” to get the most out of your Chinese team. She’ll make sure you avoid the costly and time-consuming mistakes she made in the early days. Domenica will also share valuable tips on how to better align Chinese and UK teams with your marketing efforts, a real challenge for many brands.
Mark Cox, Director at Results International Group LLP | Mark is a Director of Results International, the international M&A advisory firm. He joined Results at the end of 2015 from WPP, where he worked on over 70 deals, covering 25 countries and a broad range of the marketing communications and advertising technology sectors.
Mark will speak from an M&A perspective, sharing both his personal experiences of deal-making in emerging markets (including common experiences from working in emerging markets outside of Asia e.g. Russia, Brazil, Kenya) and his observations on the rising level of investment in marcoms businesses in Europe and the US by the established Asian networks and emerging highly acquisitive businesses from the region.
