BIMA Breakfast Briefing | The Robots are Coming
Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is one of the exciting new frontiers. 2015 was the year that self-driving cars became a reality, robots gained all sorts of new abilities, and many worried about the threat of super-intelligent future AI.
The ground is shifting quickly in this field, with new AI developments announced on a seemingly weekly basis and commercial applications filter through to market.
Join us and a panel of practitioners, as we explore the future of AI and Robotics and the impact for the digital industries. Is it scope for creative genius? How are brands and agencies getting involved? And where will the ground-breaking applications of this technology come from next?
Panel:
Moderator:
Pete Trainor, Founding Partner & Director of Human Centred Design at NexusCX
Speakers:
Dr Chris Brauer, Director of Innovation and Senior Lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London | Chris Brauer teaches in the Institute of Management Studies (IMS) at Goldsmiths, University of London and is Founder of the Centre for Creative and Social Technologies (CAST). He is a Canadian-born academic and entrepreneur living and working in London teaching, researching, creating content, and doing business. Chris will be discussing the research he has undertaken in “investigating the intersections and integrations of humans and AI in chat” with a goal of developing some core principles about how brands can develop AI chat interfaces that deliver a positive human experience.
Devika Thapar, AI: Watson Financial Services Leader at IBM | As a Watson industry manager, Devika partners with key financial services clients to develop their cognitive strategy, identify high impact use cases and collaboratively shape solutions that will drive value in their organizations. Devika will be focusing on the world of cognitive computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, specifically in line with IBM Watson’s capabilities and how this is defining a new partnership between man and machine.
Jonathan Seal, Strategy Director at Mando | Digital strategist and speaker, part time science nerd, stranger to direction-sense, and grumpy-old-man of poor user experience. Jonathan consults for global brands and speaks on digital trends and disruption, the rise of AI in marketing, more personal computing, and the digital workplace. Jonathan will provide an overview of what’s happening in the world of AI, how this impacts on brands, and how the way we interact with customers is changing as a result of machine intelligence.
Lorenzo Wood, Chief Innovation Officer, DigitasLBi | Lorenzo is responsible for developing major innovation opportunities for DigitasLBi at a global level. Lorenzo co-founded Oyster Partners in 1998 which was sold to Framfab AB in 2005, but his involvement in digital media dates back to the days of Web 1.0. In his career Lorenzo has led digital projects for clients such as Unilever, British Airways, British Telecom and News Corporation, and has provided vision, incisive interaction and technical design for clients such as Orange, Vodafone, Powergen and the V&A.
