BIMA Education Council Roundtable: Digital Education – What is the new normal and what next…?

Online Only Event: We will send you a meeting link once you sign up .

What?

BIMA recently refreshed our Education Council and have appointed a new Chair – Professor Lawrence Zeegen, Pro Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Enterprise at Ravensbourne University London. Over the next few months we are keen to build our engagement with universities and create better connections between education and industry.

To kick things off we’re running this virtual roundtable, an opportunity, under chatham house rules and with no more than 12 others, for university representatives to come together to share and discuss how to best innovate in digital education in what is rapidly becoming the new normal.

Why?

Fast becoming a cliché, but it remains critical to remind ourselves – we are living through challenging times. For those of us working across digital education a new normal was thrust upon us when the lockdown was announced. Academic staff at colleges and universities across the UK closed their doors to physical face-to-face delivery and opened their minds, and their laptops, to online delivery.

Today’s students, no longer the much-maligned Millennials of the last decade and now a new generation – Gen-Z, are the digital natives we’ve been waiting for. Often referred to as the Internet Generation, Gen-Z are already living large aspects of their lives online, and now expect their learning experiences to have been rapidly transformed from physical to digital as quick as a flash.

How do we as creative educators harness our technical know-how to enhance the experience and the knowledge of our learners? How do we best innovate and instigate in an entirely digital space to create valid and meaningful learning experiences with the current velocity of change? How do we adapt to survive and deliver the radical shifts in pedagogy needed at this most challenging of times?

Limited to 12 attendees to allow for discussion. Chatham House Rules apply and places are strictly limited to one per organisation. We hope you can make it.
