Speakers

We often hear how people ‘get’ digital, or they don’t. So how can charities bridge this gap and help the whole organisation have joined up conversions about what digital means for them?

Join us at the London Roundhouse on the 14th May at 9am, to hear from:

Stephanie Borne, the Head of Digital Fundraising at Shelter, and

Dr Raven Bowen, the CEO of NUMs, a small charity committed to ending violence against sex workers.

The session will be opened by Justin Cooke, Vice Chair, Unicef UK

This free breakfast session will give you tips, tools and advice to have better conversations with the digital team in your organisation. So you can move from having silo’d conversations about ‘digital’, and into a space where you’re working together to drive real change in your charity.

They’ll also be a chance to network with your peers through some facilitated breakout sessions.

TIMINGS

0900 to 0915 breakfast, registration, networking

ABOUT THE PANEL

Stephanie Borne

Stephanie is a digital specialist but her career started offline so she connects both worlds and develop solutions that are truly integrated.

She’s worked for global brands and Agencies before joining the NSPCC where she developed the digital fundraising and communications channels, helping raise funds and support children and families through innovative solutions such as the UK first online live counselling service for children.

Her campaigns have given essential exposure to the issue of child abuse through digital communications.

Dr Raven Bowen

Raven joined NUM as its CEO in September 2018. Although being originally from the UK, Raven has spent much of her career in Canada in the third sector working with sex workers, survival sex workers and marginalized populations on systemic advocacy, policy change and social justice. Raven has built an extended network of sex workers, scholars and other stakeholders in the UK and around the world in her near 25 years’ contributing to advancing rights, social protections and other entitlements for sex working communities in roles across public and third sectors. She worked several years in the frontline services in Canada during periods of heightened social stigma, criminalization, situational violence, abduction and murder of sex workers. Raven is an award-winning published scholar, whose past research and PhD work contributes to nuanced understandings around stigma and victimization, transitioning to and from sex work, and ‘duality’—concurrent participation in sex industry work and square work. Raven balances accountability and responsibility by holding parties accountable to policy decisions and outcomes. She is convicted about significant and meaningful sex worker leadership in crafting interventions and in service delivery to their communities. She has a trusted reputation as a manager and an alliance-builder across disparate political ideologies and communities of interest.

Justin Cooke

Justin is the Vice Chair of Unicef UK, a Venture Partner at tech VC Northzone, Chairman of The Drum, Deputy Chair of social learning platform FutureLearn and a Non-Executive Director, adviser and investor in numerous fast-growing technology businesses and sit on the British Museum Digital Advisory Board.
