Webinar: How will the Chancellor’s Budget reforms affect you? Friday 5 March 2021

Posted by Moore Kingston Smith

As the Budget looms there is speculation about tax rises in the press at the moment, as the government attempts to find ways to fill the gap made by extra borrowing due to Coronavirus. There is talk about introducing new taxes, such as a wealth tax, or perhaps raising existing taxes such as capital gains tax and corporation tax. Will any such changes apply immediately or later when we are out of the current restrictions? Whatever changes are announced, they are sure to be relevant to all UK businesses and their owners. Join our webinar to get an easy-to-digest summary to get a clearer understanding on how these tax changes might affect your business.

Mike Hayes, Tax Partner, will present and explain the main points addressed in the Chancellor’s 2021 budget and what these mean to you.

Speakers

Mike Hayes - Tax Partner

Mike has a particular talent for problem-solving. He always looks at the big picture, analysing the client’s business, carefully assessing risks, recommending options and innovative ideas to help clients achieve their commercial goals. Mike takes the technical complexity out of tax planning concepts, explaining everything in an efficient and professional, yet friendly, way.

Mike has more than 27 years’ experience of advising businesses and their owners on a wide range of taxation issues. He works with entrepreneurial businesses of all sizes. His particular focus is on business structures, corporate and property transactions, share schemes and capital gains tax planning for owner-managed businesses across various sectors. But his special emphasis is on property and media and marketing services.

Much of Mike’s time is spent advising UK and US businesses on setting up in the ‘other’ country.  Mike presents in the US on ‘Doing business in the UK’ and works closely with associated firms in major US cities.

Mike has lectured for more than 20 years on taxation matters at ICAEW and the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He is also an associate of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Esther Carder - Media Partner

Esther’s clients appreciate her professional, approachable manner and her ability to deliver business advice in an unambiguous and easy-to-understand way. This, together with her depth of knowledge of the media sector, means that she is able to add commerciality to the technical advice that she gives.

Esther has some 25 years’ experience working with owner-managed businesses and has been a partner specialising in the media and marketing services industry for 18 years, an area she is passionate about. She describes the sector as not only interesting, but motivating because of the energetic and entrepreneurial people it attracts. In her own words: ‘If there can be a sexy area of accountancy, then media is it!’

Esther has responsibility for a portfolio of clients in the marketing services sector. As well as advising on routine areas of compliance such as audit and tax, she also advises regularly on specialist areas, including employee incentive schemes and valuations. She also works closely alongside M&A transactions, advising on pre-sale grooming and tax planning, company restructures and due diligence.
