There are a few ways to install Sitecore for development purposes. Before Sitecore 9.0, we used Sitecore Instance Manager (SIM). However, since Sitecore has become more advanced, and developers want to automate the installation process, Sitecore has introduced the Sitecore Install Framework (SIF) from version 9.0 onwards.
