Along with John and Garry, Jamie is one of the owners and founders of Equator. She is Equator’s Chief Creative Officer and has overall responsibility for the creative output of the business. Jamie actively supports the team, clients and the wider creative community.
Jamie works hands-on with project and client teams to direct the creation of effective experiences that marry business and end-user needs. She has created gamechanging websites, national integrated campaigns, start-up brands, business models and strategies across almost every sector from finance (Lloyds, Santander, AXA and RBS), utilities (SSE and Spark) to travel (Malmaison, Village, Rocco Forte) and consumer goods (Baxters, Macallan, Paul Mitchell) to name a few.
Having studied product design at Glasgow School of Art, Jamie’s career began by joining agency called ZigZag where she met John. In 1999 she and John got together to create Equator. Jamie’s creative principles of attention to detail, insightful thinking and remarkable content underpin the brand to this day.
Jamie is equally passionate about improving prospects for young creative talent. In 2016 she created Scotland’s first tech festival, Techaus, to share ideas and strengthen the community in Scotland’s growing digital sector. Her passion to make change happen also led her to be invited to join the governing board of Creative & Cultural Skills, a national charity whose objective is to close the gap between creative education and employment.
As part of this enterprise, she was instrumental in securing the government remit to launch The National College for Creative Industries, one of the five national colleges approved by government to support employer-led learning. Jamie now sits on the board of governors for the new college and is helping to define the standards and principles for this innovative new national institution.
