Biography

Learning and travel are key components in Maria’s life. Maria has lived and worked in four countries and speaks five languages: Romanian, English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

Maria has a bachelor degree in Computer Science with an Economy specialisation from the University of Economic Studies of Bucharest, Romania. As part of her degree, she took an Erasmus+ scholarship to study at the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Economics both at the University of Porto in Portugal.

Following her degree, Maria worked in the finance industry. She started as an Associate Technical Consultant at Misys Financial Software in Bucharest and then moved to Euroclear in Brussels, Belgium as a Mainframe Application Designer. Here, Maria developed financial software solutions adhering to strict coding standards and business requirements.

After a couple of years, Maria wanted to move away from the finance industry and the scripting languages she was using. Her education had provided her with an extended knowledge in programming languages which led her on a path towards web development. Maria went on to complete a Masters degree in Computer Science at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, with a focus on web applications.

Maria joined Studio 24 in 2018 where she put her skills into practice and further improved her knowledge of web technologies. Maria finds working in digital has been very rewarding – especially when her code is brought to life on the screen.

Maria enjoys developing custom applications, Restful APIs, automating data import processes, and building academic platforms for projects like Heathrow Consultation, UK Parliament, Crown Commercial Service, and Cambridge University Botanic Gardens.

In her spare time, Maria enjoys reading, traveling, photography, solving puzzles and riddles, and staying up to date with the latest movies. Maria is always seeking to improve her skills and is taking online courses to expand her digital knowledge.
